WebML is the result of more than six years of continous research on Web conceptual modelling. This research has been funded by a number of projects, granted both by the European Community and the by the Italian goverment.

All projects have seen the active involvement of both academic and industrial partners, which has permitted the early verification of the WebML concepts in the field, by developing prototypes and real applications.
